Dear Yuletide Writer
Thank you so very much for participating, and I hope you have a great Yuletide season!

I didn't give much additional information in the request sheet because the new format confuses me I figured I'd go overboard here, and seem to have been correct. Anyway, what do I like, as it applies to these requests? The bittersweet, the tragic, the dark, the downright Byronic, and the hope in spite of everything. If you're playing in any of these three fandoms, I imagine that none of this is going to be much of a surprise. I go for character studies. I'm not a big fan of humour or fluff, but I do appreciate dark wit. I am very much in love with genfic or romantically tinged genfic, and not as big on sexual content as many people are. I do prefer the non-explicit and I'd say to err on the side of subtlety. (Unless you're writing for The Doctrine of Labyrinths -- in that case, anything goes.)

1. Sandman.
Morpheus is probably one of my favourite characters ever, in all his epically tragic glory, and I would love just about anything that shows of the beauty of that character. This one's an either/or.

The tag for Titania wasn't available (offend not the Fae, I laugh), but I would love to see Morpheus/Titania. Her words concerning him -- "and as for my memories of the Lord Shaper... I have no desire to share them with any other individual" -- so perfectly say everything and yet nothing at all. I've always loved the idea of the Faerie Queen and the Dreamlord -- strange and wondrous and mad and probably saner than any of his other romances, if only because they're probably both dangerous in rather similar ways.

Otherwise, I'd love to see what sort of relationship might build up between Daniel and Hob Gadling in the future, and perhaps how it might contrast with Hob's former relationship with Morpheus. (Please keep this one platonic.) Anything that mixes tragedy with a glimpse of shining hope will make me happy in this fandom, and feel free to have just about anyone cameo. Especially other Endless.

2. Doctrine of Labyrinths. I think what I enjoy most about this series is its voice. I was considering requesting just Kay, because the angst Elizabethan tinged English thrills me, I am not even kidding, but then I remembered that Felix's voice is just as delicious. And then I realized I wouldn't be happy without Murtagh too. Feel free to add Mildmay as well, but please don't slash him.

So Sarah Monette said here that Murtagh really did have a thing for Kay and was lucky he never found out (not to mention Kay's sister). I'd... love to see him find out and... figure out how to deal with it. Murtagh/Kay would be lovely, though if it won't work, that's fine too. A side of Murtagh/Felix would be fantastic (going to go back on my "subtle" request earlier and say I'm comfortable with anything found in the book with these two). And if Felix/Kay is your thing, go for it.

3. Malazan Book of the Fallen.
I requested Cotillion and Ammanas, because they're kind of awesome and Cotillion in particular is a favourite. I love every scene in which they interact: Ammanas's madness against Cotillion's subtle brilliance. More than okay with either slash or gen, though with these two, a very subtle slash would probably be most appreciated. But that's up to you.

Another thing I'd be happy to receive (couldn't make multiple requests in a fandom and she wasn't an option anyway) would be Anomander Rake/Lady Envy, so if that calls to you more, feel free to ignore the character requests and do it instead. And don't hesitate to add in Osseric or anyone else in the old gang, if you want.

You're one of the other Malazan people!

(oh, Hi, not your YT writer quite obviously because it's only Wednesday and all but sorry I couldn't help myself)

please please post your letter to the Dear YuleGoat post? pretty please? I feel so alone ;_;

I know there must be at least four requesters, you and me make two, and I suspect the person who I wrote madness for last year might be the third.

*sigh* someone who wants Malazan ;_; I can die happy now

(sorry, I know I totally went into batshit crazy fangirl mode here)

Oh, hello! No, no, fangirl mode is perfectly okay. Finding Malazan people, especially on LJ, is such a rare thing. I did post my letter last night (just signed up) -- it's lost somewhere on page 21.

Looking at the sign-up summary here, I'm not sure we're going to get anything out of this fandom, though. I offered, but that 8 name limit kills in a fandom like this, especially when they've added two naming possibilities for one character, which is what happened with Ammanas and Cotillion.

I've given up on the post, I hadn't seen you in the spreadsheet yet *g*

Finding Malazan people is hard, period. And writing Malazan is hard, too, which is why I didn't offer. I wrote stocking stuffers last year for atheilen, Paran-centric The Lord's Push, The Lady's Pull and Fiddler-centric The Force of Ashes, but they're just ficlets because it's so incredibly hard to find openings in the storyline, Erikson tends to come back to everything and it's so great but sooo maddening.

The several names should be taken care of with aka's though *frown* We'll check that next year or something.

The aka's were actually the problem! For example, there was both "Kellanved aka Shadowthrone aka Ammanas" and "Shadowthrone aka Ammanas" (and similar aka shuffling for Cotillion, except with all his names used each time), and I wasn't sure there'd be a match if someone chose one instead of the other. And then the missing characters (though MBotF wasn't the worst offender there), since I like Draconus' daughters but couldn't find them. (Yes, I'm big on Ascendants.)

I was actually introduced to Malazan by a Song of Ice and Fire type person (on an anime forum, of all things), so I have seen it build up a bit of an exclusive following before. But that's about it, unfortunately. And fair point about Malazan being hard to write... that's probably why I offered a very limited number of characters. I've only tried once before, for catharsis, with Anomander Rake and Caladan Brood after... events of the second most recent book, I think it is now? I'm falling behind a little bit. I'm at work now, but I'll definitely check out yours later. Love Paran.

Oh, I forgot about the spreadsheet! Dammit, I spent I don't know how long last night sifting through the post looking for my fandoms, with very limited success.

We probably shouldn't spam your dyw letter *g*
The aka can be fixed next year, I hope. Need to keep it in mind to talk with the admins about it, though. The missing characters... I actually made a full character list, but decided against adding it because I didn't want the wranglers to have to handle 500+ character for a single fandom, that seemed excessive. That I forgot Kalam again this year though *sigh* oh well.

I got Malazan rec from a friend in a manga community. And people have to read it, I mean it had how many millions of copies sold? Just that people aren't fannish about it.

The spreadsheet is <3 ;)
